Fleet Info Government vehicle fleets must undergo an emission inspection on an annual basis despite being registered on a multi-year basis. Government-owned vehicles, including those used by law enforcement and emergency response agencies, are not exempt under the law from the vehicle emission testing requirements.
For registration year 2008, all 1984 to 2005 model year vehicles must be inspected prior to your registration date and each year thereafter. This year, all 2006 and newer model year vehicles are exempt from the emission inspection requirement.
Emission inspection certification must be verified by fleet managers and are required according to the following alphabetical schedule. Vehicles are to be tested according to the first letter of the department/agency name, as shown on the title, in the county where the department/agency is located. For example, all state vehicles registered under “Georgia Department of...” must meet all emission testing requirements by April 30 of each year.
