Georgia’s Clean Air Force (GCAF) offers one inspector certification training course, which certifies inspectors to test all vehicles subject to an emissions inspection. The inspector certification training course includes instructions on performing two-speed-idle (TSI) and on-board diagnostics (OBD) inspections. The training course is offered at GCAF’s two training centers: GCAF Central and GCAF North.
A GCAF inspector certificate is valid for two years unless suspended or revoked. The inspector must complete a recertification training class to renew his or her certification before it expires.
Inspectors will be notified via GAS message and by email at least 60 days before their certification expiration. Inspectors should apply for recertification training at least 30 days prior to their license expiry date; failure to apply at least 30 days prior to expiry negates any possible license extensions. The recertification training is a one (1) day course held at the GCAF training centers located at GCAF Central and GCAF North.
GCAF offers two options for inspector recertification training. Inspectors may choose one of the two training offerings:
1) Inspectors view the online recertification video before attending recertification training class. Upon arrival for class, the inspector must sign an affidavit certifying the video was viewed. Viewing of the video prior to class will replace the in-person presentation; or
2) Inspectors attend the traditional recertification class. Viewing the recertification video online is not required, as the in-person presentation will be conducted.
If you have any questions about recertification class, email us at industry@cleanairforce.com.
Class start time for new inspector classes and recertification classes is 9 a.m. Students should arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. to be checked in. No one will be allowed into the class after 9 a.m. Classes end at 5 p.m.

Please note: GCAF may add additional class times during the year that are not on the training calendar. If you have been scheduled for a date that is not listed on the calendar, you should still report to class on that date.
In case of inclement weather, contact GCAF Station Assistance at 1.800.449.2471, option 2. If class has been canceled, GCAF will contact the station owner/manager to reschedule training.
